Behrends Foster is a sixteen year veteran of Washington, DC. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he worked for Congressman Dave Camp (R-MI), rising through the ranks to serve as Chief of Staff. During that time, Congress passed sweeping legislation such as welfare reform, the Balanced Budget Act, and HIPAA. In 2001, Behrends left Capitol Hill to join the American Association of Health Plans (AAHP), which eventually merged with the Health Insurance Association of America to become America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). He was responsible for tax related health care issues, long term care insurance, Medicare, Health Savings Accounts and other major medical legislation. He served as a member of the congressional whip team that helped pass the Medicare Modernization Act in 2004 and worked to pass improvements to consumer directed health care products as part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2006. He helped educate members of congress and staff as the Affordable Care Act worked its way through the legislative branches and into law. In 2010, Behrends left AHIP to start a bipartisan lobbying firm, Bluestone Strategies. He resides in northern Virginia with his wife and two children.

Chris Long began his seventeen year career in public policy by joining the Washington office of the Honorable George (Buddy) Darden (D-GA) directly after graduating from the University of Georgia. Chris supported Congressman Darden from 1991-1995 on issues related to international trade, foreign affairs, tax, and welfare. During this time he also completed an MA in International Affairs from The American University and was the recipient of the Bryce Harlow Fellowship. From Capitol Hill, Chris joined the Associated General Contractors (AGC) as the Director of Tax and Fiscal Affairs where he led association policy on tax, trade, budget, healthcare, and other financial issues during 1995-1999. From 1999-2001, Chris represented a Fortune 10 company in support of its global energy and financial projects before Congress, related international trade agencies, and the diplomatic corps, while advancing the companies political activities through its substantial political action committee (PAC). Chris joined the US Chamber of Commerce as the Director, Congressional and Public Affairs from 2001-2003 where he led the Chamber’s advocacy efforts on litigation reform, corporate governance, and international trade. From 2003-2005, Chris served as Vice President at the leading DC lobbying firm of Bockorny Petrizzo representing diverse healthcare, corporate, non-profit and state/local municipal clients before Congress and the Executive Branch. Chris joined the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce where he represented the business community before local, state, and federal government officials from 2006-2009. Chris served as Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for CareCore National advocating for evidence-based specialty benefit management programs during the historic debate on the Affordable Care Act. In 2010, Chris teamed up with Behrends Foster in launching Bluestone Strategies, a bipartisan lobbying firm. Chris is married to Christy Bell Long and they enjoy a busy home with three young children.
